Gig Raises Thousands of Dollars for Jed’s Pioneering Cancer Treatment

Fundraising night raised thousands of dollars to help a man in North Devon get pioneering cancer treatment.

Soul Intention, hosted a concert on Friday November 19th at the Barnstaple Social Club that raised £ 6,708, which was presented to Jed Mason earlier this month.

Jed was recently diagnosed with stage four stomach cancer for which he was offered palliative care. However, there is hope as the Royal Marsden Hospital in London has agreed to treat Jed using new cancer drugs and innovative chemotherapy technology.

Unfortunately, to fight this horrible disease, Jed will have to be a private patient to fully benefit from this treatment.

Carly Hunnibell, who helped organize the event, said, “Jed is a family friend we grew up with and when we heard his sad news we just had to do something about it.

“As we all know, Jed would do the same for all of us, so we decided an event night would be a great way to try and help with his fundraising.”

She said the donations had gone “crazy” with money and auction prices.

“The donations we received were incredible,” said Carly. “This includes a week’s stay at Dune Cottages worth up to £ 1,500, James Electrics fittings and installation worth £ 500 and many more.”

In the evening Robert Barber was the auctioneer, George Hammett was the game master and Mark Daniels was the singer for the evening.

Carly continued, “These guys did this for absolutely nothing, and they did it at night.

“The night was sold out and we even had waiting lists for people eager to come, it was amazing from start to finish.

“We even had Jed on Facetime with us and he was completely overwhelmed by it all.” It just shows how much he is loved in our community. “

She said they never expected to reap so much: “It’s all due to the help of the community – local businesses, individuals, all the likes and shares on our posts, every donation, the 180 people who came. on the evening of the event.

“Each person has played a huge role in helping us reach this incredible amount for Jed.

“We hope this will help Jed with his upcoming treatment and send him many bests, he is doing very well.

“Stay strong Jed.”
