Mark Labbett weight loss: exercise plan followed by the Chase star to burn belly fat

The Chase has long been a favorite of ITV viewers and those who are loyal fans of the show have seen quizzes transform over the years. One of them is Mark Labbett, who lost the most weight of his teammates, after dropping a whopping 10 stone.

But how did he do it?

The Chaser has been open about his transformation and he shows no signs of stopping.

Known as ‘The Beast’ on the popular quiz show, Mark has credited several factors which ‘come together nicely’ to help him lose weight.

When he made his first television debut in 2003, he weighed 29 stone at his heaviest.

“It went on for about two weeks before she decided, ‘Actually, Mark, look at your belly, you need some exercise!’

“I was walking him in the fields, taking me around…I think he’s helped me a lot, just because I’m getting more activity.”

A simple 30-minute brisk walk can burn 150 calories or more, so if people incorporate it into their daily routine, they’ll be well on their way to burning over 1,000 extra calories just by staying active.

The 56-year-old also lost four extra inches on his chest and six inches on his stomach in just six months.

He told ITV’s Loose Women last year that he had dropped a few dress sizes by following a high protein diet and cutting out carbs, sugar and reducing alcohol consumption.

He explained: “I’m on a high protein diet so I eat a lot of meat and lean meat.

“Even though I like crisps and other carbohydrates, I eat a little less than before.

“And it kind of became a virtuous circle, I’m not hungry, so you eat less, so you lose weight, so you’re not as hungry.”

He told the panel that he lost weight “gradually” and noticed his success when he went shopping.

“I dropped the Xs in my size from 5XL to 4XL and it looks like the next time I go shopping I can squeeze in some XL pants,” he beamed.

“Small things but important things.

“I lost 10 stone, had 29 stone when I was a full-time teacher in 2003 and was in danger of high blood pressure.

“I was around 26 stone until lockdown and then a few things went pretty well and came together and I started losing weight.”
